KIDS.
That about sums up my frustration. Next stop was a farm stay, except there was no more farm. Only the house and garden, two young cows and one very sad and frustrated young male sheep with his bits still in place. ( so that was a disaster waiting to happen) and two kids, on about one year, just starting to walk but not talking yet. The other boy about 3 and very loud and all over the place.
I am the first to admit I do not like kids. Never have what was a problem in elementary school. And those little buggers never grew on me either.
It really was in the middle of nowhere. The most southern part of New Zealand. So first day I just drove off to go see stuff. Went west to the penguin preserve, only no penguin in sight, but did see a big male sealion and on the beach a either younger male or a female sea lion, I don’t know. Then off to the next beach. The most southern point of the island. Well that was a disappointment. A 25 minute walk between the sheep and sheep droppings, then a sign saying this is it. And back again. Very spectacular. There wasn’t even a try to sell stupid souvenir stuff.
The house was okay, room was big and clean, bathroom was new but not very practical. Like the toilet paper was so far from the toilet it is a good thing I have long arm. A shorter person would have a problem.
So on to the next beach. Found a hitch hiker along the way. Nice guy from America working in New Zealand for a few months and using the weekends to travel. Together to the next beach and the light house. Saw the third sea lion, again a big male. Then off to something to eat. He went on to the next ride and I had a big plate of nacho’s. very tasty.

me and a sea lion ( i think)
Only down side it was a bit rainy all day. Back at the B&B the kids where screaming again. And the toys where everywhere in the garden all over the yard. Between the flowerbeds. And the male sheep was an escape artist and also constantly running around.
Now if the kids was playing with all that toys okay, but he wasn’t, he just threw them everywhere and then went off to do something else.
Also during breakfast, the youngest kid was okay, not very talkative yet. But he would do Umpf, and grin and give you a velvet Christmas tree. And that was all he wanted to do. But the older kid would empty the bin with toys in the living room, that was right next to the breakfast room. The kitchen was covered in dishes and left over food and fruit from the kids. Laundry all over the sofa’s.
And no I do not really need my room taken care of everyday, but at least say you wont be doing it or ask if I need it done. Now I had to go ask for extra tea. So not the experience as I had so far.
Next day I went to the cathedral by the sea. Big sea caves, pretty and not to expensive but everything is either up hill or downhill and if it starts as downhill you can bet sometime you will have to do the same thing uphill. And I am not a hill person I am learning.
So was happy to leave there. And off to lake Wanaka.

Ewww for screaming kids.
