Last bit a tiny winy bit delayed because of real life happening
Yeah so I got home on march 3, not just now. But real life happened, as I like to eat and for that I have to earn money. So had to find work fast but that is for a different blog post.
After Auckland I went even further north, almost to the most northern point but not quite, if I had wanted to go there I could have, but would have been an other day trip. and by now I am lazy.
I have seen the most amazing things all over New Zealand, the place is amazing. Really is. But after almost two months going I am getting travel exhaustion. I want to just lay on a beach on a nice beach lounger underneath a parasol having a cold drink brought to me. But I haven’t managed to find any places like that in New Zealand. Almost looks like they don’t have them. Everybody is active. Doing exciting crazy stuff like jumping of a bridge into freezing water or on a bungy cord. My age is showing, I want to relax for the last week.
First place again in the middle of nowhere on a busy road. Nowhere to walk to, any food places are a minimum of a 10 minutes’ drive, no food at the place. something like a kitchenet but no cooking plates just a fridge and a water boiler and something called a forman grill.
So after breakfast I get into my car, drive to the nearest town like place, first day there where three big cruise boats in the harbor so very busy. But also plenty to do, a nice touristy market. Where those cruise boat tourist buy the most stupid things for amazing prices. Really who pays over 100 New Zealand dollar for a wall piece made of cut open soft drink cans? Okay they made fish of the cans but still? It is trash. And very easy to make yourself, and how are you going to get it into your suitcase when you leave the boat and have to get on a plane again?
But okay, that is my frustration of traveling by car and having three extra bags of stuff that I somehow have to get into my suitcase in a week time.
I did get to see Waitangi. It is the place where the English and Maori signed a treaty about how they where going to live together. Only some how lots of meaning got lost in translation between English and Maori. And from what I understand the Maori and the local government are still fighting about it. Guess who lost?
Nature over there is amazing. I am so jealous off all the plants just growing in the wild that I cant even keep alive indoors.
Last stop was again in the middle of nowhere. Nearest town that was half way interesting was a 30 minutes’ drive and I was done. So I went to the nearest supermarket, about 10 minutes’ drive away. Got a lot of food and some drinks and stayed in for the one whole day I was there.
Trying to get my suitcase and three bags reduced to one suitcase. It almost worked only had to leave on full bag of things behind.
Started getting back to work by putting myself onto linked in. And was lazy. It actually wasn’t the hardest decision ever because it was raining all day. That is one of the down sides of a rainforest.
Last day was getting my very very heavy suitcase into my car. And driving 4 hours to the airport of Auckland.
Checking in was okay. Not the biggest airport but there was food and drink so I am good. Still had some books on my e Reader.
Next stop was Hong Kong. Again food, drink, nice hot shower at the business lounge. And last leg was done sleeping.
In Amsterdam my niece and her boyfriend where there to pick me up. With my own car that they had borrowed for my vacation. Once home I didn’t even have to crash right away but watched the over 3000 pictures and video’s. gave my niece and sister their souvenirs.
And then I kicked them out and crashed. Over 24 hours in a plane are no fun.
So in short, New Zealand amazing place. They do not normally shoot up people in a mosque. I was really shocked when I heard that, I walked near that place in my first week. I haven’t noticed any rampant racism or problem with Muslims or any other race group.
Nature is overwhelming especially the south island.
Never did manage to find a real kiwi cuisine. Or it has to be fish fry.
And after two months I am done traveling and want to stop seeing amazing things but just be lazy.
